GeG; I should vote Romney I guess, at one time or another he has held the same political views as I have on every single issue. Poverty belongs to the Poor, and the GOP will see they keep it.
Fringe- My next serious post is going to be on entitlements and minimum wage. I consider myself to be in the middle of the two party system. This subject is funny, because as an aspiring politician (Would would probably never even make it on a ballot) one of my ideas is to slowly get rid of welfare, but you would have to increase minimum wage. And I mean big increase. I'm putting together a few ideas and doing some research for the post. How do you think Conservatives will react? Liberals as well? I'll let you know when it's done.
To answer your exact question, I have voted Republican, and I would definitely raise minimum wage. Have a good day Bud.
JOB; Conservatives in this state will not go for your idea, they claim every 10 years or so when it comes up, it will drive businessmen out of the state or out of business all together. It appears a model does not exist for business that would pay everyone a good wage. Henry Ford was a freking idiot to pay his workers so much they could buy the cars they made, he got a lot of peer hate for that snafu of the 1%ers rule. I think liberals will embrace your idea on ending entitlements. at least for those who have a job under your higher wage plan, but probably not if you cut off all support for those who are laid off in a slow down, plant closing, of due to age, etc.. The tricky part will be dealing with the bone idle. Cut them off? Do you let their kids starve and go to school barefoot? Humans will steal if the kids are starving, I would, you would I bet.
NAC: Here not only are lots of jobs minimum, you can even go under that if it is part time, lots of jobs are deliberately less than 40 hours. I know a women who was cut to 38 hours, less money per hour, no benefits at all.
Whit: If they have mass transit that would help in the overall cost of living under the circustance, but I think even that is not available at all in many communities and towns.
Darrel, My two bedroom runs $580 a month, cable is another $36, electricity should cost on average about $65. Do the math! On a minimum wage job - You can't do it! And, I didn't even factor in the food, gas, car insrance, phone and the other things. Rachel Maddow is right - Obama needs to make the minimum wage and issue...
Raise the Minimum Wage! Raise it! Tut tut tut! And let those the "Lucky Duckies" get away with more stolen capitalist loot??? Pish tosh!

Don't think I forgotten your status as a 'job creator'?

If one has a minimum wage job, maybe things like new cars and two-bedroom apartments are going to be out of reach.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion the 'real' issue here is that so many jobs now are minimum wage, or close to it.
In most of California, even two workers working at minimum wage find it a stretch to afford decent housing.

Ron, maybe he will, I think most people would go for it if they ever had to work in a kitchen for damn near nothing.
