Melanie, Good catch, that would be true, my apologies to homeschoolers. I guess I base that on a cousin who is beating her kids with the anti-science stick, so far as I can tell they don't know what gravity is.
yeah...we don't play that game around here. my kids question everything and will call people out if they start cramming beliefs down their throats. actually, we are watching "before the dinosaurs" at the moment and discussing all of that evolution stuff.
OK, that's pretty close, I guess. It's really a bit more than 1,000 mph, since, according to wikipedia anyway, the Earth is about 25,000 miles in circumference and it goes all the way around once every 24 hours. But why quibble?
He also referred to 19 miles per second as the velocity of our annual trip around the Sun. I double misunderstood that, the first time. I thought I heard 90 and miles per hour. Which would be way off. 19 miles per second is what I came up with too. Or just short of 70,000 mph. And we barely even notice. ; )
Hey, hey, hey...not all of us homeschoolers are preaching the Bible...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love this!
