bad girls, good boys, pollution

Top notch researchers from Harvard School of Public Health, Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Medical Center, and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia found that BPA (bisphenol A) the plastic is a contributor to behavior problems in girls.  It is most harmful in the womb, it is also harmful in pre-puberty years.  BPA is a plastic used in the lining of canned goods, most drink and beverage bottles, some baby toys, and receipts printed at the check out in your local store, in fact it is very heavy in receipts and wet fingers absorb it very easily.

Crime is down (as counted as impact per 100,000), over many years it has ticked down slowly, even with the increase in poverty during this recession most areas are seeing a continuation of a downward trend.  Recent studies are finding an environmental cause.  In the 1970's lead was removed from auto fuel,  Lead, and mercury have been been outlawed and restricted from paint, toys and most consumer products.  Through remediation and destruction of older homes, lead paint exposure at home or school continues to decline.  Both mercury and lead cause, especially in boys, learning disability and a couple of decades of aggressive behavior.

What we are seeing is the human costs of toxins in our environment.  For boys, the clean-up is paying off with less violence and chaos.  For girls the cost is increasing, violence and chaos is increasing.  You don't have to eat and drink out of plastic, your kids don't have to be surrounded with plastics, this can be reduced, but until the US takes the stand that Japan did to get rid of it, mothers to be and kids are at risk.  So far, industry in the US say it is impossible, can't be done.  Amazing that other countries have people who can solve problems, but not us.

  1. But... you're proposing job-killing legislation! That's the Nanny State EPA shit that has our economy on the rocks, right? Ask anyone who listens to Rush, get some facts!

sigh... we would put arsenic in our apple juice if it sped up an industrial process or reduced the cost of manufacturing.

    Profits, uber alles.

  2. Just looking around my kitchen I can see at least twelve items made of plastic. So? Mothers of girl children are to stop buying pampers and use glass baby bottles with rubber nipples - Do they even still make these things? That will never float.
Reducing the dangerous chemicals used in making the product? That may or may not work. And, as SQ stated the Republicans would cry "Job Killing" and block it in the Senate as they take campaign donations from Berry Plastics,
    WalMart, and DuPont.

One last question: that plastic concern doesn't affect those toys for twats I hope?

  3. OK, it's not easy to remember which plastics are safer (none are totally) and which must be avoided like boinking the bosses honey at the xmas party.

But here it is. 2-4-5 the the monkey drank wine. Can you remember that, ok, how about 245 it's not a prime number but it's odd. So, every time I pick up plastic I turn it over and those little recycle numbers need to be either 2, a 4, or a 5 if it wants to get into my shopping cart.

1, 3, 6, and 7 are very very bad, they couldn't have made better BPA delivery systems. You can remember that easily too, 1367, thats the year the League of Cologne goes against Danish king Waldemar IV. Well, who could blame them, those damn Danes can really tick you off sometimes. OK just do the monkey wine 2-4-5 thing, that's all you need to know.

  5. Sarge,
You are indeed a gentlemen to be concerned about toxic dildo's. I'm proud to count you among my friends. Toys for big girls are a concern, there are some devices now marketed as toxin free. And good thing because the grotto's haunted by those bad boys are nothing less than an absorption nebula, yes, a black hole, extend yourself over the event horizon and you will be torn to shreds, or, called a pervert and told to go home. Praise Onan.
