Lets see, herding global warming cats, or big money influencing politics and media?

How wild is this?   According to Senator Inhof (R-Koch) ((OK)) hundreds of scientist and researchers speaking different languages, in different fields, from nations and universities all over the world are taking directions and money from a few (mostly rag-tag) tree hugger groups to create this hoax.  Diabolical ain't it?  And amazingly, different groups looking at different events and causes are finding their data in different disiplines arrive at similar conclusions.    Even more incredible they are so well organized and have such a fanatical belief, no one of them will admit to the hoax or stop participating in it.

It seems only massive corporations can save us from the information these scientist want to share with us, and thank goodness deniers can explain it away each time it snows somewhere.  Long live the Oligarchs.
(90% in the cartoon above is wrong, the number of real scientist working in the field they were educated in which believe global warming is real is 98%, the agreement is much stronger than you think.  We have a physicists in the extended family, climate specialist for NASA, two years ago their office had threats, they now have no signs telling what it is or who works there, the building and doors are guarded,  for some reason people would do harm to people who record temperatures and ice thickness.  Any time I ask him about his work he says it is depressing, the data is stronger with every new set, we are falling in a hole.)

Stocks, home sales, consumers, corp. profits, all up, GOP down on everything

Speaking of what's up, or down.  1) The stock markets are up, for 75 years they have gone up more when democrats live in the White House than when Republicans do.  It is so pronounced, even if you throw out the best stretch (Clinton) and the worst  (Bush 43) the rule is still true.  2) Oil prices are down a little yesterday then more at opening this morning, there is no oil shortage, infact a world wide glut, the price rise is speculation by the job creators who prowl the earth stripping assets and creating imagined shortages for profit, the dictionary should define profit as your money when it's in a rich guys pocket.  3) Taxes at GE are down, 2.5% tax averaged over 10 years.  How about you, if you had a job what did you pay?   4) The RED states are down on women, falling all over themselves with new zealotry to strip the privacy and dignity of women, their vagina's, their health.  In Kansas (sometime over the last few years, it is not being divulged with any detail) a 10 year old was pregnant, today there is an army of thousands of Santorums out there right now saying 10 year olds cannot have an abortion, it is a gift.   5) Obama's approval ratings are up, but once the GOP race for village zealot is over the aristocracy and corporate boards will turn hundreds of millions of $'s to the smear machine, it will be close in the end, you better kick in $10, help him make that claim most of his money came in less than $100 lumps.

If you don't vote, don't talk politics in here.

Made another micro-loan to a small business

If you need tires repaired or replaced in New Orleans, see my buddies at Al & Al.

Kiva, thats kiva.org finds small businesses looking for small loans, then they let guys like me and you form a group and we loan them money.  So 10 to 100 people chip.  The minimum you can loan is $25.  I have made 7 loans over the last 4 years, $50 or less each time.  5 are paid back in full, one is almost finished and never missed a payment.  This is the first US loan, all the others have been in Mexico, Central or South America, you can choose from the list of stories.  I like to loan to art, service, or manufacturing businesses, once to a lady that grew flowers.

The default rate is only a couple of percent.  Amazing isn't it?  The people taking the loan must go to a class on business and they are screened heavily to be sure they are serious, and it pays off.  Most of the loans being sought are around $1,000.  I have given 3 times a $25 gift card to kids to others so they would get involved.  Together we have made about a dozen micro-loans.  These loans would not be possible in a bank because they do not count determination and knowledge as an asset, or in the third world they can get loans for 50% interest or more from people who are better to steer clear of.  I don't get any interest, I just get my money back if it is paid back.  Pretty much no one takes their money out of Kiva, we just keep rolling it over to another person with a dream to prosper.  Take your $25 and head over to kiva.org

My dead ancestors are going to convert to Mormonism

Two of my grandfathers, on dad's side, fought in the revolutionary war under Capt. Cox from Virgina.  They were brothers, later the cousins married, therefore the brothers are both amongst my list of grandfathers.  50 years ago, in California an older cousin married a mormon, and their kids we learned are  beginning the process of converting the dead to Mormon.

Is there any other religion that does this?  I read today that the process, what ever it is, has started to convert Anna Frank.  So will we need to change history now, to correct this.  The Nazi's chasing down the Mormons, shaving their heads, taking their wealth, exterminated them?  By the time they are done the Jews will have to ammend the number of dead, the Iranians will be right, the Jews have blown the whole thing out of proportion, it was the Mormons who have suffered.

If they convert my grandfathers, can't I enter the temple in Salt Lake, surely they won't turn me away, after all the Mormons did to win the Revolutionary War, and it's in my DNA, I need to start looking for some more wives, orgy time, ya gotta do it if you want your own planet when you die, and Obama better not make any more laws against religion like he did to make those stupid catholics give people working in their hospitals access to contraceptives, man that sucked.

Heart-land Department of Education

http://forms.climaterealityproject.org/heartlandinstituteHeartland, a fossil fuel funded lobbying and propaganda firm,  recently lost control of some of their documents.  In these they clearly stated they are distorting information and making incorrect statements, harassing scientist, all to delay the day when they have to clean up their products, their manufacturing practices, our earth.  It's greed, and they don't give a damn.  Now they want to "give" schools a science class curriculum, a false one.

Foreign news papers view of the GOP race

Every few days I spend some time looking at foreign news services, the english version except sometimes I can muddle through the German ones barley.  It is pretty much unanimous, the view from outside the US is the Republicans are dragging the country too far to the right, to dangerous positions in religion, social and civil rights, and foreign policy.   These foreign sources also seem more aware of the growing disparity of wealth and political access than many of our own citizens.  I found some refer to Romney's corporate experience as an "asset stripper", and believe it an inappropriate vocational past for the head of a government.

Santorum, Romney, the Bible does'nt support your imagined rights to abuse resources and pollute the earth.

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” (Genesis 2:15)
“Is it not enough for you to feed on the good pasture? Must you also trample the rest of your pasture with your feet? Is it not enough for you to drink clear water? Must you also muddy the rest with your feet?” (Ezekiel 34:17-18)
“The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; with me you are but aliens and tenants. Throughout the land that you hold, you shall provide for the redemption of the land.” (Leviticus 25:23-24)
“You must keep my decrees and my laws…. And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.” (Leviticus 18:26, 28)
“You shall not pollute the land in which you live…. You shall not defile the land in which you live, in which I also dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the Israelites.” (Numbers 35:33-34)
“If you besiege a town for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you must not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them. Although you may take food from them, you must not cut them down. Are trees in the field human beings that they should come under siege from you?” (Deuteronomy 20:19)
“I brought you into a plentiful land to eat its fruits and its good things. But when you entered you defiled my land, and made my heritage an abomination.” (Jeremiah 2:7)

Kansas residents lose 21 million last month in one of the states casinos

Almost a million a day in just one casino.  When will they investigate this?  This is money mining.  All but 22% of it leaves the state landing in the pockets of out of state gambling giants like the douche water that gave 10 million to Gingrich.  That bastard makes (at 40 hours a week) about 4 million dollars an hour.  I repeat, Kansas residents lose 21 million last month in a scam operation, the skimmings to be used against their better interest, and no one is worried.

Energy security from cyber warfare and hackers

About 1 million rural homes in Bangladesh now run on solar PV panels.  OK it's a small panel or two, it charges a few batteries for: cell phone,  a half dozen LED or CF lights, maybe a computer and a tiny fridge.  The number is growing every day.  Bangladesh is poor, small, with a gazillion people.  It is not possible to lay thousands of miles of power cables and to manage a network of power stations.   Mini wind mills are popping up in Africa like this, some made of the junk they find.  What seems like a primitive  system, may turn out to be a lesson for us.
The grid in the US is managed by a combination of men and computers, moving electricity here and there to serve our needs, but these computers and the communications to switching stations and power plants can be attacked from tim-buc-2 at any minute.  If it happens and as back up systems come to the end of their reserve you have: no city water, no municipal sewer pumps, traffic lights, ATM, internet, banking system, cold storage, gas pump at the Texico, etc.
Localized small scale wind and solar sources could be the safety net rendering an attack less destructive.  Home owned, neighborhood owned, local businesses self equipped, the municipal water plant, if a few of these had the ability to continue off line in storm or attack, the nation would be much safer.  Look at WallMart and Ikea and some other companies installing roofs full of solar panels are equipping themselves to save energy and be green, but also stay open if the grid crashes.

Why the ‘Keystone Vision’ is an Economic Mirage

Why the ‘Keystone Vision’ is an Economic Mirage: pPoliticians say they want to support the “Keystone Economy.” Here’s why that vision means fewer jobs, no impact on gas prices, and more pollution by Daniel J. Weiss Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY) told reporters during a recent press conference on the economy on that “Solyndra and Keystone represent what’s at stake this November. Two [...]/p

No time to read it, here's the highlights.  Two studies from oil industry/economist say it will have 1.7 cents per gallon impact on your gas price, at best, and not for year and years from now.  Most the oil is being exported so we just are the catch tray for the spills, all the risk, a tiny benefit.  A bill in congress that would have mandated the oil to be for domestic use was defeated by the GOP.  Even though it is not approved law firms are already working to begin condemnation of land actions, if the farmer won't sign on first approach, take the fuckers land away from him and give it to the corporations.  The number of people to install the pipeline is inflated.  The refining process will dump excesive pollutants on the surrounding state, much dirtier than traditional oil.  Oil prices are set on world markets, being in possession of oil has minimum impact on local prices, you don't think the Saudis are going to say oh shit Texas got a new well or pipe, thats it give them a good deal now.  There's more if you care.

Chart man attacks and CEO's are ask to do something about global warming

Yesterday, 92 pension funds, asset managers, insurers and banks, the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which holds the world's largest collection of self-reported corporate environmental data, has sent letters to the CEOs of 415 of the world’s largest public companies calling for cost-effective management and reductions of their carbon emissions.  This follows a repeat warning a few days ago by the worlds largest insurance companies, underscoring last years notice, that global warming is increasing exposure to natural disasters, will increase risks of civil unrest, thus rates are headed up sharply.
Now.......some charts.

Scientist, the nerds we can't trust, found why millions of Alaska's trees are dying.

Global warming.  Yellow cedars in Alaska live for ever, resist insects, but can't live through the new snow patterns in Alaska the last 20 years.  Snow cover for months insulate the shallow roots, now snow is on again off again, warm days melts what they get, not a reliable full winter cover.  The roots freeze in the cold snaps.  But don't believe the scientist, instead believe your red neck uncle, the loud mouth at work, or Sarah Fail'n, or fox news , but don't believe people trained in it for years.

If congress won't raise tax on big oil, Obama will

There's more than one way to skin a rich oily pole cat.  Obama, unable to get the Reichwing to raise tax or cut support programs for oil companies who enjoy billions of tax breaks and freebees already, today raised the oil royalties on wells on public land.  The first time since 1920 fees went up.  About time the public got a fair market return on letting drillers use our land for free.  The rate went from 12.5% to 18.75%, which is what it is for offshore drilling.  Since oil is traded world wide, and prices are set by speculators in castles and penthouses far and wide, this will not raise the price of gas at the pump, but it brings in more tax royalties to the government right off the oil giants bottom line.
Will this hurt Obama's election chances, unlikely, since it will be the 1%ers and corporations howling about their precious billions, and he didn't lose a single vote, they don't vote democrat anyhow.  This should add a few dollars towards our red ink, and thats good, and after seeing record high profits almost every quarter for fossil fuel pumpers, well, I don't shed a tear.

Scrooge was a tree hug'n environmentalist.

Yesterday I stopped at Home Depot and bought a pack of 4 pig tail CF bulbs for about $6.80.  Instant on, warm white, 60 watt equals, the package has a price for electricity on it to estimate your savings, over $5 a year per bulb at 4 hours a day.  I really like them in the bathroom at night, it comes on low and over 15 seconds it goes full bright, good for the ole sleepy peepers.  I dropped off a dead one, they take them for recycle.

I have this business associate that thinks global warming is a joke, and he is a cheap cheap son of a bitch, will hardly tip at a restaurant.    He clips coupons, buys only on sale, collect frequent flyer miles off the credit card, and he is busy cutting his energy use like a tie-dyed tree hugger.  He told me his lighting is now 100% CF's, bought new insulated windows for the north side of his house, bought power strips for the TV and computer that shut off automatically when not in use,  bought weather strip/seals to put on the doors this weekend. Brags he is making money off his energy investments.  He plans to buy a hybrid car this summer.  The guy is green but only by his Scroogeness to save money, a friggin environmentalist he's not, he just wants to keep his money from the energy companies, and the planet benefits.

XL pipeline is buying the tar sand oil pipe already, from India, even though it's not approved yet.

"TransCanada Will Import Much Of The Steel For The Pipeline. TransCanada has claimed that the Keystone XL pipeline would create 7,000 manufacturing jobs in the U.S. But an independent analysis called that figure “unsubstantiated and misleading” because TransCanada has already signed contracts to purchase “almost half” of the pipeline materials from companies abroad........some of the steel pipe for the project was produced in India, Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee asked TransCanada to “immediately disclose where the steel to be used in Keystone XL is manufactured.”

from Climate Progress, for info only, full credit to Climate Progress, visit it.

Buy from foreign sources, why, if the pipe costs more what happens, the pipeline will be put from Sudan to South Africa, or Peru to Germany.  The only reason is to make a few extra million fast, like over 20 years that will be even a percent.  It's to fuck over the US worker, that and money is all corporations and the Republicans are interested in.

Racist at CPAC and Wis. gov. Walker will withhold millions of Obama's foreclosure relief from victims

Peter Brimelow is having the time of his life shmoozing, and being one of the main speakers at CPAC.  Who is PB?  Southern Poverty Law Firm says he is a dangerous racist, a dispenser of hate against Jews first, blacks and latino not far behind, and he wants an end to allowing emigrants never mind he is an emigrant himself.  Well done PB, you know where your twisted shapes fit into the puzzle.  Not one of the GOP dirt bag running for office spoke out against you.  Well done PB.

Koch owned Wisconsin gov. Scott Walker is going to take millions of what Obama and the banks announced yesterday for foreclosure relief, and keep it for the state.  It's too cruel to explain or believe, look it up yourself.  The dude, the Republicans appear honestly to hate people who are in trouble, they just want to pile it on.  What they are doing IS class warfare top down, 1%ers hammering the bottom rung, how can anyone claim it's not?

shsh, opera.

"OK now I splain you"!

Shall Charter Ordinance 216 entitled: "A charter ordinance amending and repealing Section 1 of Charter Ordinance No. 213, of the city of Wichita, Kansas, which amended and repealed Seciton 1 of Charter Ordinance No. 183 of the city of Wichita which amended and repealed Section 1 of Charter Ordinance No. 174 of the city of Wichita, Kansas, pertaining to the application of revenues from the transient guest tax" take effect?
Yes
No

A few years ago I visited a factory in Italy to learn of their products.  The engineer, Tommasso, assigned to educate me spoke english like he was in a new sport, killing snakes and down hill racing combined.  He lunged and dashed through technical diatribes, down down faster and faster he raced cutting close to the flags by dropping words he didn't have time for, he was an economist of speech, a fast breather, he sprayed just a little, and, there was the accent.  But, if I ask a question, he paused long and seriously as he gathered up a wad of useful words to throw on me.  Each question was answered, beginning with, "OK now I splain you", and like that he was back at full speed, it was exhausting.

Today I need some one to "splain me".  Where is Tommasso when I need him?  Can you help?  Here is the ballot issue for an upcoming election, the language is above, and I don't know what it means.  It has to do with tax.  The local "job creators" are tearing themselves apart, it could come to a republican civil war.  Taxes are forbidden, yet a business (in this case a hotel) can go quietly to the city and state and ask for additional sales tax to be levied on all the business they do, the extra tax skimmed from their customers is given to the business as a loan, oh, it's given up front, here take 500k$ and over the next 15 years charge all your customers 1% more and we the state will pay off your loan with this.  "Splain me"?   Why should the city state be doing a banks job here?  Well, part of the GOP loves this, part hate it.  Wichita being a wholly owned subsidy of Koch Industries, Koch is spending big to support the side that is against it which causes my kneejerk to think maybe I should vote for it.   Now, look at that damn language at the top of the post.  Do I vote yes or no, and what does the yes or no mean.   Tommasso?

If you remember, some time ago I explained a way to understand carbon

If you burn the tree in your yard for firewood, depending on the type of wood and the water content we can say about 90% of it by weight vanishes into the atmosphere as carbon, instantly, a 10 pound log sends up 9 lbs perhaps.  Into the atmosphere where it stays and as greenhouse gas further warms the earth from it's current norms.
OK now jump to oil and don't worry if your drive to the market sent up 2 pounds of carbon or 5, just think about all the oil man has available to burn.  Scientist (the kind Republicans say are liars) say if we spew 565 gigatons more carbon into the atmosphere, we’ll quite possibly go to far and change the earth completely and forever from the way we need it to be comfortable. But the oil companies, private and state-owned, have current reserves on the books equivalent to 2,795 gigatons — five times more than we can ever safely burn. It has to stay in the ground.  IT HAS TO STAY IN THE GROUND.  Now, I didn't even bring up coal burning, or natural gas, just oil.  Most of that has to stay in the ground to.
Gigaton = a billion tons

fishing wolf, sea star 1 meter across, white spirit bear, excellent video

http://vimeo.com/19582018

I can't get the video embedded, only linked, but it is a wonderful video of the British Columbia coast and the native people there fighting the tar sands pipeline and 200+ super tankers a year from destroying their Eden.  The tar sands, are the single most destructive industrial project in the world.

Watch the video.  45 minutes, but if you cannot spare it watch the first few 5 or 10 minutes, then drag the button over to 14 minutes to see the wolf fishing, and 35 minutes to see the spirit bear.  It's interesting, most the natives want to continue as is, they reject the promise of wealth and villages turned to cities of high paying jobs, instead they want the wolf, bear and salmon.

First nation is one of the native groups fighting to save something of this world rather than tear it down, also check out the group below, very active in this fight.

Did Oklahoma pass the no fetus in food act yet?

Who the hell was putting baby batter in food down there in okieland?  It sure as hell wasn't democrats, hell none of those slackers have a job let alone run a business.  It was.........the job creators buying the cheapest bull mud substitute they could grind pump and fry.  Did they pass it yet?  I suspect the franchise-ee's put the kibosh on that along with banning downer cattle or increasing from 1 in 10,000 the mad cow testing.

Mean Old Florida Senator Won’t Let You Buy crap with Food Stamps

from Wonkette.com, go there.

"Republican Florida state Sen. Ronda Storms has seen enough of these poor assholes in her grocery line buying candy and salty potato chips and chemical cancer juices with their food stamps. They’re everywhere, these poor people! You may have seen one yourself, hmm? It’s time to kill them all. Or at least to stick it to ‘em by restricting their food stamp purchasing ability. In the bill she’s moving through the state legislature, the poors would only be able to eat rocks, plastic, grass and poop, until they grow up and learn to stop being so goddamn poor."

I think rather than prohibiting these junk foods, the senator madam will just figure how much she thinks poor people spend on it, and reduce the budget by that amount.  Snack food industry will kick her in the balls before this is over.  It's not a bad idea in some ways to restrict this, it would force quick trips to sell food in poor neighborhoods.  Anyhow, ain't gonna happen.

no to unilaterally disarming

In 2011, the Super PAC supporting Mitt R. raised $30 million from fewer than 200 contributors.  The engine of this effort to buy control of the executive branch is fueled by an average contribution of roughly $150,000.  All this at the same time he roamed among his many homes, paid lower tax than you on yearly income greater than you will make in a lifetime from money hidden in foreign banks.

Barack Obama has received an average donation of $55 from 1 million 300 thousand people so far.  All this at the same time he OK'd the rescue of seafaring men from pirates, exported more illegals than Bush, extended health insurance to millions of kids, OK's the end of Bin Laden while facing wobbly chin  Speaker boner and the teary eyed oligarchs.

Barack has decided today to allow a pac to operate on his behalf according to the laws.  Without it he would be swamped, the Kochs alone are pledgeing 100 million for just one of the Romney pacs, and they will give hugh to many local races all over the nation.  Obama said he had to, it was not wise to unilaterally disarm.  Insiders say even with this, Obama might be outspent.  Democrats running for other offices will be outspent in most markets by hugh sums.  At the end of this election cycle the GOP, the corporations, the 1%, the reichwing,  may own far more of the government than they do now.  At some point, your going to have to open your wallet and give a few dollars to some democrat somewhere.  I always give a half dozen of them from 20 to 100 bucks each, less than 300 total I suppose, this year will be the same, maybe a bit more.

Romney's tar baby looks like a bunch of rich guys

1.2 million of the 30 million raised by just one super pac for romney is from oil and coal.  Among the list is Koch brothers, who gave (in this cycle & to just this group) less than a hundred thousand, but are promising 100 million, 40 million of it from their own bank accounts and Koch Industries & subsidiaries, the rest will be from arm twisting employees, associates and other oligarchs.

Does your senator take your phone call?  No I thought not.  Will Romney?  No I thought not.

insider trading rule runs into K street

The "Stock act", the rule that was sailing through that would stop members of congress and senate from an exemption on insider trading of securities is getting mucked up.  K street lobbyist are on it now.  Do they work for you?  No, they work for the 1% that owns Congress and they don't want it.
Already some GOP dick wad has added a line to the bill removing exemptions from trading in land and property as well.  I must say that is a good idea, and I didn't even know these pricks had that perk.  But........this was done to kill it.  Why?  Who?  Some sweet insider deals appear to be in the offing for some key senate or congress crooks and this is a way to kill it, kill it and they won't be able to do it.  I have thought for a long time some of these shits were buying land to sell for the new army base, pipeline, or government office.

Are these Republicans working for you?  Who the hell are they working for?  Why do these dicks think they should have exemptions from insider trading of any kind?  I'll tell you why, because they are part of the aristocracy and it's not stealing to them, it's not unfair to them, their entitled.  This needs to pass and instead of the real estate rule added being a killer it should be what makes it a must pass.

PINK RIBBONS (TRAILER)

was the cut off of funding breast cancer screening at Planned Parenthood a political statement, or a bottom line booster? Tough love for poor ladies from a charity that morphed into a business with right wing political loyalties.  Is that what this nation is coming to, even charities withhold support for the needy to score political gains?

GM attacks Fox & Republicans praying for auto companies to fail

"I never thought I’d see the day when an American political party would cheer for the demise of any American company, never mind an institution like General Motors. Yet the Republican party has ........."  Bob Lutz

'Eco-Atkins", stay'n alive, stay'n alive, oh oh oh oh stay'n alive.

Futures market indicate a 5% increase in prices this year for meat in the US. Thank drought in much of the continent, poor quality grassland, higher grain prices competing with ethanol, low animal weight gain in hot weather, in other words thank global warming and low mileage vehicles.
Did you know the feed stocks given to livestock world wide for food production would feed another 6+ billion people on a plant based diet?  Don't worry, it won't happen, it can't happen, the food industry is not prepared to feed that many more people pears and lima beans, the capacity isn't there, the infrastructure and transport isn't either, and I sure as hell don't need 6 billion more fuckers like you living on earth.  But, consider the original message here.  And,...... I had triglycerides of 850 a few years ago, changed the way I eat and exercise and in a couple of months it was 450, over the next several months it went to 160 where it moves around ± 15 points each year. The doctor said take statins, I never filled the order, doc was not amused, they do not like shit like this, they believe in pills.

Susan Koman, the Cure Foundation, the pink ribbon people, yank funding for cancer

Many women, many of those who did not have insurance, got their breast cancer screening and some treatments through Planned Parenthood.  In the name of centuries of hateful religious fanatics I want to thank you religious right, thank you anti abortion zealots, thank you republicans, thank you for your pressure to get Koman to cut off money funding breast cancer care.  Your hatred is brighter than the pink ribbons you hide behind.   Is this what your Christ wanted?  To increase the number of women without a chance at survival of breast cancer?  Actually, I think maybe he does.

Kansas on a dead run to hand the baton to industry

1) A bill working it's way through Topeka will let utilities raise rates as they wish when they wish, then they have some weeks or months to apply to the rate commission, if it is disapproved they would have to refund the overcharge.  That's sweet, if they get in a jam or want to puff up the quarter for managers bonus then raise the rates, if they need cash this can be a source of a loan without going to the bank or Wall Street.  Don't it make ya proud to have corporations working for the publics good like that?

2) But, not all the news was good for the GOP.  A federal judge blocked a coal fired power plant here from starting construction until it files all it's papers including an environmental impact study.  The utility and the state GOP are howling mad.  They feel the permits should be applied for concurrently with the building process.   That's sweet too,  wonder if I could open a strip club and outdoor bar next to the baptist school while I work on that pesky paperwork for the permit?

Background.  This power plant was denied a permit by the former state EPA office under  Gov. K. Sebielus (D) (now Obama's secretary of Health).  The reichwinger gov (Koch) Brownback fired almost everyone in the state EPA when he got here, left a kid with a rubberstamp in the room, and they promptly approved the coal burner with no care that it blows mercury on my farm.  Since that approval it was learned the kids in the EPA office would take public or news posed inquires to the utility who would write the answers for them, see that's industry doing it cheaper than government.  Oh, they also made 1/3 of the windy state of Kansas off limits for wind energy at the request of Koch Industries who fights all forms of energy that doesn't produce smoke, cancer, or profit for them, and to slow the perception that wind would reduce the need for this power plant.

diet related trouble keeping it up

About 6 months into a plant based diet now.  Well, not totally, in that time I think I have eaten 2 turkey sandwich, one roast beef sandwich, one sausage, 2 slices of bacon, 2 little barbque ribs, and about 2 times a month we have a tiny bit of fish, usually salmon.  My wife has had only the salmon and at Christmas a small slice of turkey.  Oh, and things work superbly.
Also we have had virtually no processed food, no dairy, white flour, high fructose syrup, sugar.  Instead we have lots of nuts, which by the way nuts high calories and fat do not cause weight gain unless you eat more than 1/2 to 2/3 cup of them a day depending on your body size.  We eat tons of vegi's and fruits, beans, whole grains.  The only thing you might want to add if you go off meat and dairy is a B12 tablet, do not take multivitamins, instead throw the money in the toilet and save the drive to the store.
