No, I never had a pet chicken, but my dog Tana did. She'd go visit the old lady on the corner and come home smelling of chicken feces. She'd give the old lady's chickens a ride on her back around the yard. They'd mess all over her. Stink too.
When I was ten years old, my grandmother gave me a bantam rooster and a bantam hen for pets. The hen laid small eggs which I ate for breakfast for about two years. After that, we ate the rooster and the hen. :)

ReplyDeleteI had a pet rooster when I was a kid. His name was "Rooster" and he came when you addressed him as such.
ReplyDeleteThis is "wayfarer", by the way.
I'm following you...:i
Sherry, don't take offense if I don't pet Tana.
ReplyDeleteWayfarer, my ole chicken would come over to me also, and she didn't often run off if I tried to pick her up.
That's actually a great picture. I did not have a pet chicken but my parents were dog breeders and AKC judges, so I did kind of grow up on a dog farm
