wrong about the republicans
A lot of the blogs I read are really quite sure the 2014 midterm elections will sweep a lot of republicans out of the house and senate. Based on the publics low approval ratings for congress, it seems logical. I dearly wish it were so, but you people are stepping on rakes with this idea. Congressional gerrymandering insures only small changes in the house one way or the other until near the next census. Senate races overall do not look good for dems. Nate Silver, the best election statistician in the nation in his earliest looks at the election gives a slight advantage to the party of the rich. They may gain one or two overall, and allows it could even go red. Long way off, but I don't agree with the preemptive glee of most of my friends.

Have to agree. Gerrymandering has made it just about impossible to unseat an incumbent. The only time a race is contested is when the incumbent decides to leave politics for greener pastures (i.e., becomes a lobbyist) or dies.
ReplyDeleteNancy; It's a shame these are the only two term limits available.
DeleteThe key issue is the minimum wage; the Dems use it and they will win huge...

Hope your right.
DeleteOur House district went red in 2010 with the rest of the Tea-Baggers. That time the margin was 25,000 votes, last election the margin was 2,500. If the same people run again it could swing the other way as the incumbent hasn't done anything other than kiss the party bosses asses!!
ReplyDeleteBe that as it may, I don't have any hopes for the next election. The pundits were soooo wrong on the last election that I'll wait and see what happens. There's too many stupid voters out there.
Sounds like your district could go blue. None in my part of the nation will, it's solid radical rich red here.
