1,300 dead, they died for our freedom, almost 30 of them were babies and small children. This is the cost of the freedom to have 100 million guns among us.
In Mexico the drug wars did not kill anywhere near that many in the same period, without our freedoms they may never be able to enjoy the same death toll.
There are more soldiers killed each month in the US while off duty off base than in Afghanistan. Thats the cost of freedom, being killed at home rather than at war.
Darrel,
ReplyDeleteI cannot fathom the reason for the suicide rate other than PTSD and the frequency of the rotation cycle.
Look at SSgt Bales - the NCO who killed all of those civilian Afgans. The man had already been diagnosed with PSTD and was returned to combat.
He will not be convicted and if he his - the US Court of Military Appeals will either throw out entirely or sent aside part of the sentence.
