OK are you ready for this? Big snow storms always bring hoots of joy from the stupid among us, and their numbers are legion. It's proof science is a hoax they'll chortle, no global warming.
Least you forget, or didn't know, this blizzard is proof of nothing except ice crystals are so heavy they fall to earth. But, big snow storms, heavy rains and tropical storms cause more financial losses as the world warms. Warm air masses carry more water than cold air masses. A world of increasing temperatures provides a higher probability of destructive precipitation events. Warmer oceans, lakes, and air increases evaporation rates, thus, blizzards may stay with us even as we have warmer winters.
Don't get fooled. Focus on global warming, not local snowing. I am glad it snows, although this may be a case of too much at once.
Darrel,
ReplyDeleteWe are on the back side of the low pressure system over Lake Erie and the wind is bitingly cold. So, two feet of snow - deal with it! I have seen it snow knee deep to a tall fuckin giraffe in Upper Michigan!
Ask Kulkuri and Nan...
I think Gary on Long Island will miss this...
Ron
Kansas will have a couple of nights just below freezing, the snow missed us by 900 miles.
DeleteNow, Red Mosquito might not dodge the storm...
ReplyDeleteSarge
Old Buzzard and Frau might see bad shit too...

Probably 10-14 years ago in da Boat it snowed for some 30 days straight. When the sun came out one morning we drove into town and looked around. It was the most amazing thing not that I liked it. (da boat meaning Steamboat Springs)
ReplyDeleteI agree yf.
da boat must have looked pretty great dressed like that.
DeleteI think Gary got hammered!
DeleteFor you readers - Gary is a friend of Fringe and I who lives at Rockaway Beach on Long Island.

When their Corporate Overlords deem the time right to start gouging the American People and get the Government to pay for all costs associated with Global Climate Change the message will be sent out to every conservative nutso blogger, it will be trumpeted from Faux News and by the toxic garbage mouths on right-wing radio.
ReplyDeleteOf course, by that time your farm in Kansas will be producing mangos and other tropical fruits...
GeG, yes I suppose that day is coming, the longer it takes the more it will cost, who ever is to pay for it.
DeleteIf I hear one more person say "so much for global warming" when the temp turns cold, I'm going to commit mayhem...
ReplyDelete--The F Man
F man, I know what you mean. My advice, mayhem all over'em.
