the support for the troops and the military trophy right out from under the Republicans. Like a table cloth from under a set of dishes, no one saw it coming, sha-zam.
But doofus Romney and Ryan ignored the vets and troops in Tampa. Their support is only for military contractors with billions in gift spending that the Generals have not asked for and indicate they don't want, frankly it would be hard to manage such growth. Truth is democrats always supported the troops, they just didn't gush it all the time, and in many cases they opposed the wars we have been in lately, Nam and Iraq were wars of choice, and Afghanistan was beat in 90 days and we should have left then. Unlike CheneyBush the dems don't see the army as an arm of the oil industry.
Get Romney in the White House and McConnell in control of the Senate and we will have a war with Iran - Romney and Bain Capital will make
ReplyDeleteCheney and halliburton/KBR seem like amateurs wen it comes to robbing We The People blind.
Ron
Sarge I think you have a point, these guys know how to strip money from America, they will probably be good at it.
DeleteI'll never forget Bush using the Troops as props for his "Decider" and "Bring'em On" Speeches.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Romney the chicken hawk coward doesn't have any empathy or understanding of how to use the Military and only sides with the M-I-C.
He and his family are too good for lowly military service! Romney was more than willing to champion the Draft and the War in Vietnam because he knew his dandified, moneyed, lilly-livered, pampered ass wasn't going anywhere near it.
"One of the ways my sons are showing support for the nation is helping me get elected. Because they think I'd make a great President." - W. Mitt Romney on why his 5 sons are too valubale to risk serving in the military.
Rich boys don't go to war; poor boys do.

DeleteChicken Hawks have started and perpetuated a lot of death over the centuries, they are very effective at filling graves. What's that line in one of the Pink Floyd songs, "forward they yelled from the back row and the front row died".
The thing I don't understand is why so many ex-military are so right-wing when the right-wing doesn't care about people, only property. I guess they believe the bullshit about the "R"s loving the military when all they love is the military industrial complex. Hopefully this will get some in the military thinking that maybe they've been played.

DeleteThis is a phenomena I can't explain either. But for some reason as old soldiers age a big portion of them will bend to the party that seems the most hawkish. I have thought for a long time that is why the Repubs want to continue the war and start another, to insure in years to come a replacement votes for them as the old warriors pass. This has been my thought process since about the second year into Iraq.
Thank goodness Ron, (Sarge at One Angry Zebra) is not ready to throw any more kids into the grave. Nor you, thanks. (Do I have that right, aren't you a viet nam vet?)
I was in the Air Force during 'Nam, but never had the pleasure of spending a year in the fun and sun of 'Nam. Only time I went overseas was a 30 day TDY to Iceland.
DeleteTricky Dickie cut the budget so they couldn't afford to pay me and they let me out 4 months early. I still didn't vote for the crook!!
I can understand the Republicans wanting to help the corporations make big money with the war machine. What I can't understand is why or how regular people believe their propaganda.

DeleteI don't know, I think some of it is patriotism and nationalism. Those two things are powerful, lots of lies and mischief can be bottled up with it by politicians, zealots and industry. And those of us who question it, even casually or naively are not much appreciated for enabling that unwanted thought process.
