Obama's gift to oil, don't like it one bit, no sir.

I think the Prez made a big mistake opening up more drilling off shore and in Alaska.  I think he did it because he knows the public is so stupid they think it will help.

It will help, help continue our race to a greenhouse gas CO2 spawned climate change.  And no Texan or Alaska oil man or rough neck is going to vote for him due to this, they hate him and we know why.

There is no shortage of oil, we actually grew from standard of 26 day reserve to almost 30 during the price hike.  Tanks were thrown up all over to store the extra.  Oil pumping is up since Obama took office, you would think it's the opposite to listen to the oil companies shills. The speculators and the market drove up the price for one reason, the market does not work any more because it is manipulated by the oil corporations and futures traders.  Our market economy is out of control, hedge funds, speculators,  the system operates to rob the public, you, it is not safe, it does not serve small investors, or the nation, not any longer.  Also..............we are at peak oil, meaning the easy stuff is being pumped, whats left is hard to get at, expensive, extremely deep, dangerous seas and frozen shores.  Since it is expensive and risky the oil companies WILL get more tax breaks for doing this.  This is another case of us using up our kids reserves, and in a dirty way.  Bringing more oil to market prolongs our use of a dying transportation technology, were making buggy whips when the spark plug is about to go out of use.  Innovation will not come to the US if we stay with old technology and fight change.  It was an environmental error he made.

  1. Obama's presidency has been both better than any since LBJ and very disappointing, at the same time.

Of course, LBJ's was like that, too.

  2. obama is doing this for the same reason all politicians do anything.

    to get elected (or re-elected)

once the election is over - he'll say he couldn't find anywhere to drill, so don't fret it - it's just a 'hand-feint'

surely you remember what that is, eh?

    lol

  3. I have no problem with oil exploration if it can be done in a environmentally safe manner.
However - I may have to admit that Fringe is right about ethanol - Gas was selling for $3.97
and E-85 for $3.68 on Crawfordville Rd in Speedway. That ain't any savings...

At least he doesn't show off his gall bladder scars, pick up dogs by the ears. I must say though it will be tough for any president to top passing the civil rights laws he pushed through, which by the way also rid the Democratic party of most it's racists as the south switched to be the base of the GOP. Cured two problems at once, and I loved the Lady Bird's get rid of highway billboards, but, they came back, ten fold.

Maybe your right about after the election, but for sure this was a stunt to help the election, but only for the stupid who will think it will suddenly help price at the pump. If the price changes it's because the speculators wear out the bubble and move on to cotton or coffee futures, something else to fuck up a market.

  7. Sarge,
If you didn't mix up the numbers it looks like at the pump there IS a 29 cent savings on ethanol. Indiana huh? Here the ethanol blend is always higher.
As for the exploration, the problem is the mind set that goes with it. It indicates to industry and cities no need to change products or development, this will go on for ever being a carbon based transportation system. Every milestone statement or action like this from a key personality/official slows the transition to a new economy of new technologies and efficiencies and products, new jobs in a cleaner quieter nation. Have you ever heard a hybrid at the traffic light? Nothing, the engine shuts off, it's not burning gas, it's not belching fumes, it's ready to go, it's bliss.
I'm still trying to figure why that article you sent me says ethanol plants pay above market for their corn, I can only imagine (in a snarky attitude) they don't give a damn since they get so much gov. subsidies, but honestly I don't know, very interesting, I will see if I can learn why.
