Red M. The book argues a case for the human struggle, the conscious choice to control the negative genetic tendencies, (decisions and choice that in the long run are not in our best interest) through formation of communities and setting of regulations in order live in a civilized world. This negative genetic coding given or left over from our recent departure from being apes is something we are working to correct generation to generation. It is a book of behavior/genetic history and dovetails into todays political society and personal turmoil and the struggle to ascend. At least tha's what I think it is, highly recommended by egg heads.
I can only assume that reading "The Rise and Fall of the Third Chimpanzee" is easier reading than "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire." :^)
ReplyDeleteI've read two by Diamond. Interesting stuff.
ReplyDeleteI will write these down...
ReplyDeleteI have Ape House on my to be read list already, mostly because I loved Water for Elephants and am interested to see what else she has.
ReplyDeleteRise and Fall of the third Chimpanzee??? Do you have a summary of that?
