Think snipers in Iran, Syria, Ohio, youth and ideals the target

See Sarge's (One Angry Zebra) post today.  Kent state anniversary of national guard shooting students.  This is a cover band, with this rather raw edged version it fits the atmosphere of the era, the anger of the youth of America over a very polarizing war and the industry and politics that kept it going.  Tangle this all up with the civil rights issues, the baby boomers reaching puberty and it was a problem, and the government was over reacting time and time again, we saw it in the south, at the democratic convention in Chicago, at Kent state, Berkley, over and over the authority was misused, and the kids, as kids will do escalated it as well.

  1. Nixon's (and Reagan's) idea of "law and order." Yes, kids you've had your little protest but when we say disperse you have to disperse. NOW!

Yes, and that led to the famous 60s slogan used mostly by young people: "Question Authority!"

  3. We older kids should have spoken up more when Bush invaded Iraq...

  4. ah, the good ol days, Kent State, burning your draft card, etc etc

the adults were totally screwed back then but as Sarge points out - we as adults should of spoke of MORE when Bush invaded Iraq.

I remember telling my wife that this (Iraq) was going to be 'just another Vietnam.'

Little did I know there would be two of them.

  6. Whit,
What we found when we "Questioned Authority" was they didn't have any answer. So they called in the cops and National Guard or turned riled up construction workers lose on kids as was done in New York, Boston and a few other cities. Many were badly beaten while the cops stood back and watched. It was brutal, like the Egyptian thugs charging the crowds on camels, or the Iranian thugs on motorbikes. Oppression looks the same no matter who is doing it.

  7. Sarge, True, a few reaised the alarm and said it smelt of folly and lies. But the media helped beat the drums and revenge was in the air, sheep lined up. We, more of us, should have raised hell.
