Met Life and global warming

I have a little life policy with Met Life.  Snail mail just brought me a news letter/mini magazine about helpful stuff.
To my surprise, one of the main items in it is a list of Helpful Hints to Save Gas now that Global Warming is rising utility and fuel costs.
It had all the usual stuff, accelerate slowly, coast to the stop sign, air up the tires, plan your trip to save miles, use public transport or walk when possible, keep engine tuned, buy low rolling resistant tires, don't speed.  But it had one that I had never thought of before.  Park in the shade on warm days - gas evaporates from the tank at a much higher rate as the heat increases, and the AC has to work harder to cool off the car when you jump in, both cost you extra fuel.
Met Life, yes, they said Global Warming is costing you money.

  1. The insurance companies have been thinking about global warming/climate change for quite awhile. They know it's going to affect their profit margins.

    1. Nan;
      It's true, and the companies that insure big industry and corporations have told their customer base a few years ago that catastrophic storms, heat and drought was going to cost industry and insurance profit and rates will go up, in some regions and industries it will go up a lot.

    2. How many claims did Met Life and others like State Farm and Allstate contest or outright deny after cloams after Kartina, Sandy, the tornados and floods?

      Fuck Snoopy!

  2. Since global warming doesn't exist, if insurance companies hike premiums due to it they are just yet another sector cashing in on green-scam.

    1. Anonymous; Next time I delete your comment if you don't identify yourself. I would love to visit your blog, and hear more from you, but only if you are willing to share with me and my readers a handle linked to your blog.
      Global warming does exist, both for those who accept science, and for those who deny it. Likewise all will pay higher premiums, the insurance company do not have a separate rate for deniers. Even if you do not insure a car, house, business, freight, corn in the field, you still pay for it. Higher insurance rates to corporations bump the price of everything you buy eat or use.
